Coriander seeds, chopped tomatoes, chillies and chicken. I add a sprinkle of a few other spices and then, after browning, I pop it all in the casserole dish. This might sound like a normal chilli chicken dish, but there is one ingredient that I have to add right at the end which makes it stand out. Once everything has been baked, I remove the dish, pluck the chicken pieces out and then throw two handfuls of chopped dark chocolate into the sauce.

Lesley Pearse has always been a storyteller. From a young age she often found herself in trouble for embellishing the truth. But she came to writing quite accidentally, when she wrote a letter to a women’s magazine in the UK about the contents of her fridge. It was picked as the letter of the week, she was sent twenty five pounds, and Lesley then realised that she could earn money writing. However, her rise to fame was not an overnight success; in fact it took seven years for Lesley’s first novel, Georgia, to be published.

But Lesley is not your typical author.

"Thank you again for the privilege of reading this book.  I have learnt so much."

"I now know that losing (and keeping) the weight off is not going to be a three month thing and that if it was, then I'd probably regain all the weight I would have lost. To date I have lost around 3.5 kgs. Dr Luc has shown me that I need to relook at how and what I eat, as well as WHY I eat rather than just WHAT NOT TO EAT.  I need to learn to listen to my body and to not eat on the run.

I was fortunate enough to be able to read Matched and Crossed straight after each other and I'm so glad that I did. Having been left with a major cliff-hanger in the first book, I was very anxious to continue Cassia's story in Crossed.
